CDL 2021 Major 5 - Day 3 Preview

Charlie Cater

Following on from four great matches yesterday, Major 5 continues with four more matches tonight. Here’s the odds, and our preview of tonight's games.

Atlanta FaZe (1.02) vs Seattle Surge (10.50)

Atlanta FaZe will be coming into this match with a point to prove after being knocked down to the losers bracket by Minnesota ROKKR. Heading into this matchup, it should be an easy win for FaZe. But a Surge full of momentum won't be easy to get past.

Seattle Surge have completed the same run they did at the last Major, defeating Paris Legion and London Royal Ravens in the losers bracket. However, in their match against the Ravens, their respawns weren’t clean at all, and FaZe should take advantage of this.

LA Thieves (1.50) vs New York Subliners (2.50)

The LA Thieves played a close match with Toronto Ultra as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to send them down to the losers bracket at Major 5. Going Map 5 with Toronto isnt an easy feat, however it’s not as impressive as it was a few Stages ago, so you can’t overestimate Thieves here.

The New York Subliners always provide an incredible series for us to watch, and following a reverse sweep over the Florida Mutineers, they’ll be looking to carry this momentum through the losers bracket. Throughout the season, NYSL have a 2-3 record against the Thieves, but given their current momentum and “something to prove” mindset, they’re an incredible underdog bet.

Toronto Ultra (1.46) vs Minnesota ROKKR (2.54)

A close battle with OpTic Chicago saw Toronto Ultra dominate the Search and Destroy’s, coming out on top with a 3-2 win. This was an extremely close match, and while Toronto still don't look at their best, they’re managing to stay in the fight.

Minnesota ROKKR dominated Dallas Empire in a 3-1 victory following on from their win over Atlanta FaZe. Heading into this match, ROKKR’s momentum could be enough to bring them across the line and into the Grand Finals.
