CDL Stage 2 Major - Day 2 Preview

Charlie Cater

The second Major of the year continues today with four more matchups, here’s the odds and our preview of the action.

Dallas Empire (1.65) vs New York Subliners (2.04)

Following a 3-2 defeat to OpTic Chicago, Dallas Empire will be looking to bounce back in a statement match against the Subliners. Shotzzy and Huke have been a great SMG duo once again, however this match requires C6 and iLLeY to dominate the AR battle.

New York Subliners look great, and they could easily win this match. If Clayster and Diamondcon win the AR battle against C6 and iLLeY, it’s in the bag. New York should win both Search and Destroy maps, so they just need to take one respawn to win the series.

OpTic Chicago (1.29) vs Toronto Ultra (3.05)

OpTic Chicago are coming off the back of a 3-2 win over the Dallas Empire and they should walk through Toronto in this matchup. Formal and Dashy were dominating in the match against Empire, and some crucial clutches from Scump saw them take home the win. If OpTic keep this momentum, they’ll be dangerous in Major 2.

To win this series, Toronto Ultra will need to use their SnD prowess to their advantage. They’ve looked great in search this season, so if they can take the first map too, they’ll be in a great spot for the series. However, this requires Insight to go big, and win the duel vs Formal.

London Royal Ravens (3.15) vs LA Thieves (1.28)

The Royal Ravens will need to bounce back following a 3-0 loss to Toronto Ultra at the end of Stage 2. Zed has been a major factor in this squad, and he’ll need to win the SMG battle against Venom.

LA Thieves looked incredible in a 3-0 vs Paris Legion yesterday. Kenny and Drazah dominated as the new AR duo, so while they need to play at the same level again, we’re looking at the SMG battle to really decide this series.

Seattle Surge (2.48) vs Florida Mutineers (1.44)

Seattle Surge look like a rejuvenated squad. Prestinni has dominated since moving to Atlanta and he’ll need to continue this form against a Mutineers squad with momentum.

The Florida Mutineers completed a 3-0 sweep over the LA Guerrillas. While Florida looked on point, they were also helped by a series of throws from the Guerrillas. This means that while Florida are favoured in this matchup, and this momentum should see them take the series. Seattle can't be underestimated.
