CDL Stage 3 Major - Day 3 Preview

Charlie Cater

The third Major of the year has definitely not disappointed. With some incredible matches so far, we go into five more today. Here’s the odds, and our preview of the first three matches.

LA Thieves (1.74) vs London Royal Ravens (1.91)

Since the addition of Huke, LA Thieves have struggled to get going. In their match against the Mutineers, they were dominated by the ARs of Skyz and Owakening. This is something that they’ll need to look out for against a momentum filled Royal Ravens side.

The London Royal Ravens are currently on a three game win streak, 5 Hardpoint streak and a 5 Control streak. The squad look dangerous, and each player has taken their turn to step up when needed. Something that makes the Ravens dangerous is that they show similarities to Toronto Ultra, their teamwork is sublime, but an individual steps up when needed. This will be a close match, and London are a great underdog bet.

OpTic Chicago (1.75) vs Dallas Empire (1.90)

OpTic Chicago finally broke their losing streak with a 3-1 win over LAG. While they lost the initial Hardpoint, they bounced back, winning a round 11 SnD before taking over in the Control and map 4. OpTic needs to channel this energy and momentum into this match, as it’s shaping up to be a marathon.

Dallas Empire were dominated 3-0 by Atlanta FaZe, and they’ll need to bounce back here in this elimination game. However, while they haven't got the results they’ve wanted, they seem to be improving every match. Here, it’s the SMG battle that will win the game. Shotzzy and iLLeY need to outperform Envoy and Scump in this series, especially in Hardpoint.

Atlanta FaZe vs New York Subliners

After clutching up to deny a reverse sweep by Toronto Ultra, Atlanta FaZe will be feeling better than ever coming into this match. Their Search and Destroy was exceptional, with them completing 4/5 retakes in the Map 5. However, this series could've been a 3-0, but Faze burnt three streaks, and still couldn't close out the final Control round. FaZe are looking to win their second Major of the year, and their current SnD performances gives them a great chance.

The New York Subliners completely obliterated the Mutineers in a quick 3-0. A dominant Hardpoint, followed by a 6-0 SnD and 3-0 Control saw Clayster play one of his best games this year. Currently on a 10 game Hardpoint win streak, the Subliners will be a tough team for FaZe to beat, and yet again, we can see this going the distance.
