Kickoff Classic - Day 2 Preview

Charlie Cater

Today we see three more matches in the CDL Kickoff Classic. Here’s the odds, and our preview of the games.

London Royal Ravens (2.16) vs Paris Legion (1.58)

After a fourth place finish at Champs last year, the London Royal Ravens should be ready to go this year. With Alexx being the only roster change, Seany, Dylan and Zer0 return from the 2020 squad. The chemistry in this team should get through any tough patches during the season. Zer0 however will be playing from the UK, which puts the Ravens at a massive disadvantage.

Paris Legion have put together a squad of Aqua, Skrapz, Classic and Fire. While Aqua, Skrapz and Classic have all been competing for a while, this will be Fire’s first time in the pro league. With nothing to lose, he should give it his all. This means that he could surprise a few along the way.

This match will be close, however at 2.16 to win, London Royal Ravens are definitely worth a shot.

Toronto Ultra (2.48) vs Minnesota Rokkr (1.44)

Methodz, Cammy, Bance and CleanX return form the 2020 Toronto Utra roster for another year on the squad. Following their up and down inaugural season, Toronto will be looking to improve this year and be more consistent.

Minnesota Rokkr look incredible on paper this year, with Attach, Priestahh, MajorManiak and Accuracy on the squad. However, with no aggressive SMG this may be an issue. While we have Toronto as slight favourites, Minnesota could definitely take this game and it is guaranteed to be a close one.

OpTic Chicago (1.61) vs LA Thieves (2.10)

In the closest match of the weekend, OpTic Chicago takes on the LA Thieves. OpTic have looked incredible in scrims so far, and while playing from the HeczQuarters have looked even better. With Dashy coming in to improve the squad even more, they are already looking dangerous.

If everyone at the LA Thieves can buy into Slashers' way of playing, they’ll be a very good team throughout the season. With Kenny, TJHaly and Temp finishing the starting roster, the Thieves are very good on paper and this is one of the hardest matches to call.

Based on recent scrim results, OpTic are looking better, but no one knows what might happen on match day.

Day two of the Kickoff Classic begins at 8PM GMT on Sunday Jan. 24. You can watch on the Call of Duty League YouTube Channel.
